Personal Ponderings

So, here's something most of you probably don't know and wouldn't guess about me: I don't want to have vaginal intercourse until I'm married.

Kinda odd considering some of the things I write about, right?

Now, don't get me wrong. I want to have sex. I'd be happy to give handjobs or oral sex... and to get them! I just firmly believe that no method of birth control is 100% perfect except abstinence. Yes, I know you can use multiple types of birth control and then your chance of getting pregnant is like 0.000001% or something. But I also know people who used 2 and 3 methods of birth control and still got pregnant.

And I also know that I do not want to be a single mother. So, until I have a man I love and a marriage certificate that binds us together, I don't want to have any kind of sex that could get me pregnant. (Yes, I realize that even handjobs carry some risk, but I would also be on hormonal birth control and would properly wash my hands afterwards and such. Still not 0% risk, but an even smaller risk than is ever possible with vaginal intercourse.)

But lately I keep feeling like I'm weird for having this belief. I talk to guys online, and it seems like they EXPECT sex before marriage and that not having sex would be a deal breaker. Or people say that birth control is really good nowadays and that I'm just being silly. Or that waiting for marriage is silly because if I end up divorced, well, then I'll be a single mother anyway.

So, I'm going to ask you, flist. Is it weird that I want to wait?

Poll #1838532 Waiting till marriage?

Is it weird to wait till you're married to have vaginal intercourse?

Yes, birth control is safe and you just worry too much.
A little... sex is no big deal.
Maybe... what if you just wait till you're engaged?
No, sex can cause babies!
